Hi, I am Rui Pang (Ray)

A product designer with a multidisciplinary background spanning industrial design, service design, design research, and a teaching role.
I am interested in exploring how people interact with the artifacts and how to influence human behavior through design.

2023-Present

Visiting Faculty of New Product Development @ Hawaii Pacific University

Under the College of Business and the new product management program, I had chances to explore the intersection of design and marketing, using a hybrid perspective to understand product value and how design as well as design thinking plays a role in product development process.

2024-Present

Product Designer @ BBnana Studio & SideQuest Master Project

To bridge the gap between design theory and practice, I ran the BBnana Design Studio with  fellow designers and participated in the development of the SideQuest Master mobile app. These projects offered a valuable context for testing various design tools and applying theoretical knowledge in real-world design scenarios.

2022-2023

Design Fellow @ Live Well Collaborative

As a Design Research Fellow at Live Well Collaborative, I led a team in supporting clients with market insight collection and user-centered evaluation of their products and services. Our projects ranged from consumer research and website UX improvements to service design and future-oriented concept development.

During my two years of master’s study in design and design research, I developed strong qualitative research skills, including user needs inquiry, qualitative coding, context analysis. Focusing on virtual interaction aspects, I developed a solid skills in interface prototyping.
